Random Ornament
The Ornament series uses different geometric processes coupled with pseudo-random parametric tools on the computer to quickly create multiple configurations which can then be digitally configured into unique one-off jewelry pieces. The final objects are then printed using 3D rapid prototyping machines from Stainless Steel, Nylon, ABS or other materials. The first experiments were done using circle packing - ultimately producing several bracelets and rings. A second round of prototypes furthered the exploration into rapid-prototyping technologies. 3D printed stainless steel ornament was again designed using a combination of scripts with parametric software. Hand-crafted processes (sand-blasting, polishing) were employed to further refine the pieces.
